Sanctuary Nomination Process

Kalauhaihai Fishpond Information Available

NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS) Pacific Islands Region is working with the East Honolulu community to assist with their planning efforts towards the preservation and restoration of the Kalauhaihai (Lucas Spring) Fishpond in Maunalua Bay, Oahu. The ONMS PIR has facilitated meetings and one community workshop (April 10, 2010) to support this effort. A report on the April workshop, and other supporting documents, are now available at an FTP site, and instructions for downloading are below.

The report (title: PreFinal Fishpond, 9.2MB) provides a snapshot of the workshop attendees’ goals and desires for Kalauhaihai Fishpond. The document was created solely for discussion purposes, and it is now up to the community to take the next steps and work towards implementing some, all, or none of the recommendations that came out of this workshop.

The Kalauhaihai (Lucas Spring) Fishpond Project documents are available for download at the following FTP site: ftp://facilityprogramming.ftpww.com/
