Licensing
The NMSA provides authority for NOAA to license the use of the trademarked national marine sanctuaries "whale tail" logo and other emblems. The license is authorized by a trademark license agreement, which is a revocable and nonexclusive license to use the logo for the development and marketing of products, such as posters, mugs, water bottles, t-shirts, swim rash shirts, hats, jackets, keyrings, etc. to promote the sanctuary system. The licensee benefits from the positive branding of the sanctuary system and sanctuary system projects benefit from positive publicity and revenue enhancement. Interested parties may also be licensed to use the logo through our non-profit partner, the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
