Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary
to Host Annual Research Symposium

The annual Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Currents Symposium - a free public event - will be held April 9, 2011, at California State University Monterey Bay. This year's theme is "Ripple Effects: The Far-Reaching Impacts of Local Ocean Research."

Local scientists will present some of the ground-breaking research they are doing using tools such as undersea robots and electronic satellite tags. This research is helping to unravel mysteries about white sharks, the northward invasion of Humboldt squid, and new species living on the slopes of little-explored seamounts. This work also is helping inform ocean science and policy both nationally and internationally.
